§ Area survey of streets and sidewalks needing repair. – Lila and team did a street-by-street review of broken sidewalks and required street repairs. A letter was provided to the Mayor who responded that the city would be doing the “Worst-First”. Kimberly Mitchell stated that the city does have some funding set aside to make some of these corrections. § Fallen tree in Westminster Park: The city has recently completed a survey of the downed trees and is using a landscape contractor: Vila & Sons to provide a cost to upright the trees on city property and easements. They are waiting on a crane to upright the tree in Westminster Park. § Petty Park – local residents provided the manpower to clean up Petty Park, thank you to all involved. A new play area (swing set and teeter-totter) has been installed in the park and is being used regularly. § Red Cross House – Next years Red Cross house will be the home on the corner of Sunset and Aravale. § Prospect Park – Welcome Banners – The original plan was to have welcome banners ready for the marathon. We are still pursuing permanent banners and for the marathon Lila has designed 10 banners, which will be set in yards along the path of the race within our neighborhood. § Cedric Dupont’s tragic house fire – His home in El Cid was severely damaged by fire. Lila collected a note to be posted on his door to let him know we are thinking about him. A request has gone to the city asking for them to do what they can to assist him. § Watch for a upcoming auction at Dr Brandon’s home (Washington Rd – 3 houses south of the park) The property is currently on the market.
o Crime Committee: No Report – Chairman out of town
o Airport Noise: - Chairman out of town § A Resident has attended recent meetings at the airport, which have not been very successful because of lack of attendance. It was stated that a proposed noise disclosure at the time of a real-estate transaction has been discussed. Attached is the draft document in PDF format. Update from City Commissioner – Kimberly Mitchell o Crime – Perception from the attendees is that recent crime is up. Kimberly stated that the WPB Police Department now has new software, which allows them to track the high crime areas and staff those areas accordingly. § Questions from the group to Kim · Where is our assigned officer? Kim stated that the new Police Chief Bush believe it is better to have more officers on the street than in meetings. · Can we get communications of the results of recent crime investigations? · How do we get more officers patrolling our neighborhood ? – Kim said with the new software the police department can determine the best place and time to add patrols. Just because we don’t see them does not mean they are not there. § Suggestions from the group · Lock your cars and doors · Always report suspicious vehicle either parked or passing through our neighborhood.
o Inaugural Marathon of the Palm Beaches – Everyone is excited about the up coming marathon, which will be passing through our neighborhood. Kim took us through the racecourse and the complexities of setting it all up. Please look on our website for details at http://pphhoa.org/Marathon.htm .
o Monceaux Street Construction – Discussion on the completion of Monceaux road led by Ken Rearden (City of WPB, Director of Public Utilities).
§ Completion planned for the end of December. All new streetlights are in. Completion of the punch lists to occur in the coming weeks. The board of the homeowners association to work with the residences on Monceaux to collect and consolidate the punch list. A few critical items need immediate attention such as the water pressure and fire hydrants west of Olive. Also to be consolidated is a list of items requesting reimbursement. § Once east of Dixie is completed construction west of Dixie will begin. § Ken also communicated an emergency number for the utilities department – 837-4011. V. New Business o The Fall Festival has been postponed due to the hurricanes – no new date has been set o Neighborhood Yard Sale – any interest? – Show of hands by most of the group displayed that group is interested. o New House proposed for the northeast corner of Monceaux and Flagler - a tear down of the existing structure and replacement of a new 5000 sq ft home.
