The General Membership Meeting
Prospect Park
Monceaux Homeowners Association
Carol McLaughlin talked about the income taxes. The
accountant will take care of the bill. We are going to use Southland Park’s
application for the 501C3 report.
Committee Reports
Crime Prevention-Steve Deness- There has
been a lot of crime on Monceaux since the construction has started. The
neighbors must be aware of what their others neighbors are up to. Set your
alarms if you have them even if you are at home. Steve has a special lock
if anyone is interested in it. There was a suggestion made that we could
get some old police cruiser parked in area where home have been burglarized
maybe this could be a good preventive measure.
Beautification-Lila Young- She had a great
handout of what was talked about at the April meeting. She has walked the
neighborhood and taken noted on problem sidewalk areas. We also want to
look at what kind of trees are on each sidewalk and see if we can get some
kind consistence in the neighborhood.
Our guest speaker was Mayor Lois Frankle. Instead of
her just getting up and talking we had a very good question and answer
symposia. She was very upset with the fact that our streets have been under
construction for as long as they have been. It was very obvious that she
did not like the contractor however her hand were basically tied due to the
fact that he was the contractor for 3 or 4 jobs out and that the city had to
accept the lowest bidder. She was also unaware of the problems on Monceaux
and told us that she would make it a priority to get that street done. She
said that the City was having problems getting cement. However, someone in
the audience suggested where to contract it from. When we talked to her
about the crime on Monceaux and other areas of our neighbor, she reassured
us that our area was one of the least targeted areas of crime. Our new
police chief, Delta Busch is focusing on more patrol officers. Mayor
Frankle also was very excited to tell us about the downtown projects that
will join Clematis to City Place. There is a new condo going up on 610
Rosemary, a new City Hall and a new Library making the city more well
rounded. She also talked about the library being torn down and all the new
parks and docks that are going to be built at the marina. On a general note
the audience was very receptive to Mayor Frankle.
We need street captains call or contact Richard Brown.
