Feb 2003 Minutes
HISTORIC PROSPECT PARK / MONCEAUX
HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

General Meeting
February 5, 2003

Lori Starbuck welcomed those in attendance and gave a brief explanation of the reason for this Association's formation. All homeowners within the boundaries are encouraged to become involved in order to work for the benefit of the neighborhood. Some goals of the Association are: Street beautification, traffic calming, crime watch, street signs, fund raising events such as home tours and historic certification for the Monceaux Division.

Leslie Linder introduced Officer Russell Lobdell, our neighborhood officer, who briefly reported on some recent incidents in the area involving abandoned cars, stolen autos, etc. He urged citizens to contact him in the event of suspicious activities. Officer Lobdell can be reached by pager at: 561/835-3151 or by cell phone: 722-6303. Obviously, if there is a real emergency, people should call 911.

Leslie Linder indicated that communication will be the backbone of the success of this Association. She explained that we are currently communicating via e-mail. Minutes are distributed via e-mail or by fax. Those persons who require hard copies can either get them at the next meeting or through a neighbor.

Street Captains can be helpful in keeping residents informed of activities on their street, welcoming new neighbors and reporting back on activities at the general meetings.

Leslie asked Bill Gearhart to illustrate the website he has created for our Association. This includes a calendar upon which meetings can be posted as well as such things as informing neighbors of garage sales, street parties, etc. Minutes of meetings can be posted on the Newsletter. The Home page also includes a map of the area covered by the Association.

Leslie introduced Terry Knight, the City's Neighborhood Coordinator, who talked about court watch, whereby citizens are asked to appear in Court when an individual comes before the Court for a hearing. This has been very successful in the north end of the city.

Marion Holloway spoke briefly on the envisioned goals of the Association. It is anticipated that future meetings will be held at Fire Station 2 on Dixie Highway. By a show of hands, it was determined that a starting time of 6:30 p.m. for meetings would be better. At the present time, meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month. Those interested in serving on the Board of Directors or as Street Captains were asked to indicate this on the form provided.
