January  2005 - General Meeting

Agenda for the General Meeting                                                           

1)     Called to Order by Marion Holloway, Welcome to everyone – 6:30pm  - 25 attendees signed in.

2)     Introduction of Bailey Grey, President of the Southland Park HOA.  (Greenwood to Monroe).  Bailey discuss Southland’s plan to become a nationally registered historic district.   His purpose with meeting with us is to introduce the idea of Prospect Park and Monceaux areas joining in their effort.   This was an introduction to the idea, further discussions to follow.

3)     Committee Reports

a)      Beautification: Lila Young

(1)   Welcome Banners – The welcome banners for the marathon were a big hit.  The beautification committee is looking into the cost and city requirements to place permanent ones.  There will be design, installation and insurance costs to consider.  

(2)   Location of Fire Hydrants – with the recent fire in El Cid Lila suggests we invite the new Fire Chief to one of our upcoming general meetings.  Lila also toured the neighborhood to list the location of the fire hydrants in our neighborhood.

(3)    House of the month - The beautification committee is working on the design of the signage for the House of the Month.  Lila presented a draft drawing of the signage, which everyone liked.

(4)   Fund raiser idea  - Lila suggested the board consider buying t-shirts / hat as a fund raiser and to add visibility.

b)     Crime committee: New C.O.P.  - Officer Paul Mathews has been assigned to our neighborhood - For your records his phone number is 722-6343

c)      Airport Noise: Steve Deness – Chairperson unable to attend.   Marion Holloway and a few others to attend the upcoming CCAN meeting in February

4)     Elections

a)     Selection Committee – Ron Byrnes volunteered to be the chairperson for the elections.

b)     Review timetable and procedures – Elections of the 2005 board will occur at the March 2005 general meeting.   Anyone interested in participating on the board can submit their name to Marion Holloway via email at neighborhood-updates@pphhoa.org

5)     Monceaux Street Construction

a)      Status – Marion Holloway to do walk through of the Monceaux project with local residents.  A punch list will be complied and discussed further with city hall.

6)     New Business 

a)     Neighborhood Yard Sale –  Past interest was expressed.  We need a chairperson.

b)     Notice: Design Meeting for City Center Community Summit concerning the Clematis Street development project.   Meeting date: January 10, 2005 6:00 to 7:00PM.    Meeting Place: Harriett Himmel Gilman Theatre at CityPlace

7)     Meeting Adjourned 7:30PM
